Architect of Madrid
Antonio Palacios is the architect to whom we own many of the elegant buldings of the center. In our tour we will visit some of them: Town Hall, Cervantes Institute, etc.., entering inside them to admire the decorative elements.
We will finish the tour going up to Madrid best view point, also a work of Antonio Palacios.
WHAT WE WILL SEE
We will start our tour in The Town Hall, the building designed by Antonio Palacios as the main Post Office. We'll visit the splendid interior and the glass dome.
Palacio de Cibeles
Walking along our Broadway (Gran Vïa), we'll admire the Metropolis Building and the current "Cervantes Institute", both from the hand of Antonio Palacios through the elegant Madrid of the XX century. The city of the central banking houses and the "Casino de Madrid", meeting point of a new social class in town.
Casa de las Cariátides
Close by we'll see the public and private buildings built by the architect in Calle Mayor: Casa Matesanz and Casa Palazuelo. We'll enter to admire the modern interior of the last one.
Returning towards where we started our tour we'll see the last bulding of Antonio Palacios, where he used steel in its façade for the first time.
Círculo de Bellas Artes
We'll finish our visit in the Circle of Fine Arts, where we'll enjoy the best view of Madrid from its roof-top (elevator fee not included).
