Austrian Madrid, or Habsbourg Madrid, refers to the dinasty who ruled in the World between 1500 and 1700,when Madrid became the capital of an Empire from Mexico to Philipines.
Our walking tour will take us through the historical center, starting from the Orient Square, facing the same view of the Guadarrama hills painted by Velazquez, and from the same convent that was the residence of queens and princesses during 200 years.
We'll walk across the medioeval markets, the squares, meeting points of all sort of citizens, scenaries of balls and executions, till we'll arrive to the theater quarter, where, meanwhile London had The Globe, sixteen theaters or "Corrales de Comedias" entertained the people from Madrid on the XVII century.
There, in the same area, convents, whorehouses and scenaries shared the quarter. We will finish in front of the tumb of Cervantes, the author of Don Quijote
